URI, Dec 8: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today visited border tehsil Uri of district Baramulla and convened a meeting of district officers to review the pace of progress registered in the area.
District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, Ghulam Ahmad Khawaja was also present on the occasion.
The Minister reviewed the ongoing works under district sector and other projects being undertaken under Centrally sponsored flagship programme.
The Minister stressed upon the officers to work with zeal and dedication besides ensuring that problems of people should be resolved within minimum possible time.
Mr. Taj said that the Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people, especially in far flung and hilly areas. He said that Union Government is also generous in providing funds to the State for completion of ongoing projects. He said various flagship programmes including PMGSY, NRHM, RMSA are being implemented at grass root level for the socio-economic development of the people.
On the occasion, the Minister was informed that 13 villages have been electrified under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) so far while as work is underway in other 14 villages. He was also informed that 9220 and 8790 job cards have been provided under MG NREGA in block Uri and block Boniyar respectively.
