JAMMU, Oct 25: Forest land grabbing by Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today took another turn when Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone forwarded another letter written by the Minister to Advocate General for legal opinion on whether the Legislative Council could constitute a House Committee against a member of the Lower House.
Mr Lone said he received another letter from Taj requesting for seeking legal opinion from Advocate General on whether a House Committee could be constituted against him in the Upper House when he happened to be member of the Lower House.
“I have forwarded the letter to the Advocate General for the legal opinion’’, Mr Lone said.
As reported today, the Speaker had forwarded another letter of Taj to Legislative Council Chairman, Amrit Malhotra, who had constituted the House Committee. The letter contained representation of Taj on forest land grabbing.
Mr Malhotra had constituted a House Committee after serious allegations of forest land grabbing were leveled against Taj Mohi-ud-Din by NPP MLA Syed Rafiq Shah in the Upper House during autumn session of the Legislature.
