JAMMU, May 20: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today inaugurated Neuro Surgery and Gastroenterology Departments, besides various facilities including highly advanced 128 Slice multi-detector CT Scan at the Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) here.
Other facilities inaugurated by the Minister included dialysis ward, state of art bio-chemistry and immunoassay lab.
The newly inaugurated dialysis ward is equipped with fourteen dialysis machines to cater to the rush of the patients.
Interacting with the staff, the Minister said that with the availability of advanced CT Scan, the SSH has got the distinction of being the first health institution in the state to provide the facility of the state of art 128 Slice multi-detector CT Scan. He asked the hospital management to ensure best possible maintenance of the medical equipments installed in different departments of the hospital. He hoped that with the availability of more advanced facilities, the people would get better health care in the hospital.
Principal Medical College Jammu, Dr Ghanshyam Dev, Administrator Associated Hospital Rachna Sharma, Medical Superintendent Medical College Dr. Rattan Pal, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Wasiq, Medical Superintendent Super Specialty Dr. Riaz, Personal Officer Manzoor Ahmed, HoDs of various departments and other senior officers of Health and Medical Education Department were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Mr Taj paid visit to District Hospital and Mahatma Gandhi Child & Maternity Hospital Kathua and took detailed review of the arrangements made for maiden session of MBBS classes to be started in newly sanctioned Government Medical College, Kathua.
While speaking on the occasion, Taj Mohi-ud-Din said that Government is keen to run the MBBS classes in newly sanctioned Government Medical Colleges from this year. He added that with the functioning of medical colleges in the state the medical students will now not have to move out of state for medical education.
He said District Hospital Kathua has a capacity of 200 beds and endeavour is to make provision for another 100 beds facility in coming times.
Director Health Services, Jammu Dr. Baljeet Pathania, Director NRHM Yash Paul Sharma, Nodal Officer Government Medical College Kathua Dr. Bela Mahajan, Chief Medical Officer Kathua Rajinder Samyal, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kathua Dr J.P Singh, Medical Officer Mahatma Gandhi Child & Maternity Hospital Kathua accompanied the minister during the visit.
The Minister during his visit inspected ongoing repair works of old District Hospital Building where first session of the MBBS classes will commence this year.
While directing Managing Director, JKPCC P.R Bhagat the agency executing the ongoing repair works, the minister asked to complete the works by the end of June 2014.
Later, Mr Taj visited District Hospital where he reviewed the proposed Government Medical College building and feasibility of Girls Hostel for MBBS students in Ancillary Medical Training School Hostel. He directed the executing agency to do the needful repair of the hostel. The minister passed instructions to the officers of JKPCC to complete the assigned works in stipulated time.
