SAMBA, Sept 5: Chairman, Block Development Council, Ghagwal, Vijay Tagotra, along with his council members and Sarpanches, today expressed concern over the ongoing power curtailments in Ghagwal.
Addressing the media persons, Tagotra stated that the local residents have been demanding the installation of a 10 MV power transformer at the power station on Sandhi Road in Ghagwal for the past eight years. This transformer, he said, was necessary to alleviate the power station’s overload and prevent unscheduled power cuts.
According to Tagotra, the 10 MV power transformer was sanctioned and received, but it has remained uninstalled at the power station for the past eight months.
“This situation has caused great inconvenience to the general public, affecting their daily activities, and posing challenges for children and elderly individuals due to frequent power outages,” he said.
In response to these concerns, members of the Block Development Council Ghagwal handed over a memorandum to the DC Samba, urging the early installation of the unused 10 MV power transformer.
Tagotra further called for a 50% relaxation in power bills to provide interim relief to the people of Ghagwal.
He also warned that if their problems are not resolved promptly, there is a possibility of agitation, and the responsible authorities will be held accountable for the consequences.
