RAJOURI, Nov 27: Civil Defence Organization Rajouri organized an Inter-Institutions Symposium on the topic ‘Civil Defence and Mitigation of Disaster’ in the premises of Government Degree College Thannamandi here today.
Mubassir Latifi, SSP Rajouri was the chief guest, while Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Vice Principal GDC Thannamandi presided over the function.
The main aim of the symposium was to infuse knowledge to the students of the college and other schools about the mitigation of disaster. Eight students of various institutions participated in the symposium.
Earlier, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina presented welcome address.
Speaking on the occasion chief guest said that such types of symposium are very fruitful in the present era and impressed upon the participants to always be ready for voluntary service in case of any eventuality.
Sehar Shakeel Raina of Govt Degree College Thannamandi secured Ist Position in the symposium, Rahil Mushtaq of GDC Thannamandi and Zahida Latief of MET Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah Academy, Thannamandi claimed 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The positioners were presented mementoes and certificate of merit on the occasion. Other participants who spoke in the symposium also got consolation prizes.
Bashir Ahmed Shawl, Prof Mohd Saddiq and Prof Junaid Jazib were adjudicators on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Deputy Controller Civil Defence Rajouri, Suresh Kumar Chib, Tehsildar Thannamandi Sunil Kumar, SDPO Thannamandi Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, Principal Govt Higher Secondary School Planger, Syed Azrar Hussain and SHO Thannamandi Mohd Bashir.
KK Langer, chief warden CD Rajouri presented vote of thanks. The proceeding of the function was conducted by Prof Asif Ajaz Lone.
