KATHUA, Apr 16: Renowned spiritual teacher Swami Ram Swaroop emphasized the enduring relevance of Vedic traditions in contemporary times while delivering a discourse on the significance of Yajna during the ongoing 78-day ritual dedicated to the four Vedas at Ved Mandir, Yol Camp.
The event, which began on April 12, features daily Yajna ceremonies along with recitation and interpretation of Vedic mantras. It aims to reconnect people, particularly the youth, with ancient Indian knowledge systems and their practical application in modern life.
Addressing devotees, Swami Ram Swaroop clarified that Yajna is not merely a ritualistic offering into the sacred fire but a comprehensive philosophy rooted in righteous action, discipline, and service to society. He stressed that limiting Yajna to symbolic practices without understanding its core principles diminishes its true essence.
He outlined three fundamental pillars of Yajna-service to elders and divine forces, promotion of social harmony and collective welfare, and the spirit of charity and selfless giving-stating that these values remain highly relevant in today’s individualistic world.
Citing Vedic scriptures, he highlighted the importance of discipline, correct recitation of mantras, and sincerity in performing Yajna, expressing concern over the growing deviation from authentic Vedic practices.
Focusing on the youth, he said that the philosophy of Yajna offers guidance in dealing with modern challenges such as stress, distractions, and moral dilemmas. He noted that such spiritual practices can instill clarity, inner strength, and a sense of purpose while encouraging a balanced and ethical lifestyle.
Calling for a cultural revival based on Vedic teachings, Swami Ram Swaroop urged families, educational institutions, and community organizations to introduce these values to younger generations in a meaningful way.
The ongoing Vedic Yajna continues to draw participation from devotees and scholars, emerging as a platform for cultural awareness and moral reflection.
