Swachh Bharat Mission a collective responsibility: Kavinder

Jammu, May 22: Speaker Legislative Assembly and MLA from Gandhi Nagar Constituency, Kavinder Gupta today toured the rural belt of his constituency and interacted with people.
The Speaker was accompanied by SDM, South, Shahid Mehmood; BDO, Satwari, Shafqat; X-En, PWD, Abdullah; X-En, PHE, Ashok Sharma; X-En, PDD, Arvind Chibber; X-En, I&FC, Anil Sharma and other field staff of these departments.
The Speaker convened various public grievances camps at these places to take first hand appraisal of the problems and demands of the people and also to make them aware about the various welfare programs being run by the Government so that they can avail maximum benefit.
People of the area apprised the Speaker about various problems being faced by them which included lack of transport facility, scarcity of drinking water, unhygienic surroundings and projected some demands for installation of electric poles, establishment of medical facilities, and macadamization of roads.
While addressing the people, Speaker said that unhygienic surroundings always self created, and this needs introspection, “Swachh Bharat Mission” is the flagship program of the Government of India and State Government is extending every possible help to make it a success, but for that everyone of us have to contribute as it becomes our collective responsibility to keep our surroundings neat and clean”.
Responding to the other problems, Speaker said that macadamization of roads has already been started with an estimated expenditure of around Rs 40 crore. for the Gandhi Nagar Constituency and it will be completed by the month of June.
On the issue of transportation, Gupta took a dig on the previous NC-Congress regime and said that he is aware of the fact that these areas lack transport facility from a long time and nothing has been done due to the unpretentious attitude of the previous Government. Gupta told them that he has already taken up the matter with the Transport Minister and the facility will be provided to them very soon.
