SW Monsoon withdraws from J&K, Himachal Pradesh

PUNE, Sept 30: The Southwest Monsoon has started withdrawing from entire Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and remaining parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Rajasthan and Kutch.

The all-India weather bulletin, released here, said that it withdrew further from some parts of Uttarakhand, west Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra and Gujarat, and most parts of east Rajasthan. It also withdrew from some more parts of west Madhya Pradesh and north Arabian Sea.

The Southwest Monsoon was weaker over Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Marathwada. However, it was vigorous over Assam and Meghalaya. It was active over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Konkan, Goa and north interior Karnataka.

Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Konkan and Goa during next 24 hours. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Konkan, Goa, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka during the period.

Thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning, is very likely to occur at isolated places over Bihar, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka during next 24 hours. Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan and Gangetic West Bengal, Sikkim, north interior Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during past 24 hours.

They had occurred at many places in Odisha, Jharkhand, Konkan, Goa and coastal Karnataka during the period. They had also occurred at a few places in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep during the period.

Isolated places in Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Tamil Nadu also received rain or thundershowers during the period. Mainly dry weather prevailed over west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat during the period. (UNI)
