SVO seizes records of PDD for ‘irregularities’ in purchases

JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today raided several offices of Power Development Department (PDD) and seized records for alleged irregularities in purchases, repairs and installations of electric infrastructure in the city.

A ‘Joint Surprise Check’ (JSC) was conducted by teams of SVO Jammu, headed by Deputy Superintendent H L Pandita and DySP V K Bhat, in three electric divisions of Jammu- ED (II) Gandhinagar, ED (III) Janipur and ED Parade, a SVO officer said.

The records have been seized to ascertain the facts, he said.

The raid was conducted following the inputs that officials of PDD in the city during the financial year 2015-2016 had drawn huge amount of money on account of purchases, repairs and installations of various electric items like transformers, poles, cables etc without adhering to the codal formalities and by making purchases from the unregistered dealers at exorbitant rates.
