JAMMU, Oct 19: On the eve of 10th Foundation Day celebration, Shree Vishwakarma Library and Research Centre (SVLARC), New Plot Jammu organized a multilingual “Poetry Session” under the chairmanship of Ram Lal Verma.
Dr Veena Gupta and Dr Chanchal Bhasin were guests of honour on the occasion. A total of twenty poets participated who include Dr Chanchal Bhasin (Dogri), Rakesh Verma from Akhnoor ( Hindi); Harbans Lal Harsh from Khour (Dogri/ Hindi); Abdul Qader Kundria (Dogri); K R Sathi Salgotra (Dogri); Neelam Verma (Dogri); Balwant Kataria (Dogri); Kasturi Lal (Dogri); Om Arsh Dalmotra (Dogri) ; Basant Vyogi (Dogri); Babu Ram Puri from Sunderbani (Dogri); Rattan Bhardwaj from Akhnoor (Dogri); Rattan Doshi (Urdu); Harcharan Singh Sudan (Hindi/ Panjabi); Om Parkash Kataria (Hindi); Raman Chalotra (Hindi) and Ajeet Kumar Verma from Bishnah ( Dogri).
Chairman of the Library, Principal Ram Lal remarked that poets and writers are important section of society and they should be duly respected and honoured. He said Vishwakarma Library is committed to promote Art, Culture and Literature and has come out of all odds during its ten years journey.
On this occasion, a standardized letter head of Vishwakarma Library along with Logo, designed by Balwant Kataria, was unveiled by Prof Veena Gupta. Balwant Kataria also donated eleven rare documents/ books dated from 1967 to 2005, including J&K Reorganization Act 2019 for use of library users.
Prof Veena Gupta, in her address said, “it is not necessary to hold the functions in big A.C Halls with costly sound and lights to promote art and culture. It can be achieved even in simple manners and Vishwakarma Library presents model in this regard.” She disclosed that she visualized real dedication, zeal, and love for art in the organizers of this event. Such small events are significant and real treasure is sometimes found in such programmes, she added.
Earlier in his welcome address, Joginder Angotra presented details of achievements in the past ten years and future plans of the Library.
In the end, Ramesh Angotra (Convenor) presented vote of thanks. Prominent among others, who witnessed the event, include Shashi Verma, Raman Chalotra, Rattan Lal Chargotra, Master Kuldeep Verma, Shambu Nath, Sonia Verma, Ashok Salgotra, Vinod Jaral, Bharat Bhushan, Visha Angotra and Jitender Jajua.
