DODA, Apr 17: District Election Authority (DEA) here today under the guidance of District Election Officer, Harvinder Singh organised Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme in the serene village of Dhadkai, Gandoh to ensure that all the eligible voters, including the deaf and dumb community, actively participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 19.
The event witnessed the presence of officials including Sub Divisional Magistrate and Tehsildar of Gandoh as well as Block Development Officers.
Despite village’s reputation as the ‘silent village of India’, the enthusiasm among deaf and dumb voters was remarkable and their determination to exercise their democratic right through voting, despite facing communication barriers, was commendable.
Dedication of the deaf and dumb voters in Dhadkai serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience and strength inherent in the democratic process.
In addition to the efforts in Doda District, the Election Commission of India’s SVEEP activities play a crucial role in enhancing electoral awareness and participation across the nation.
A handout stated that these initiatives aim to educate voters, especially youth, about the significance of their vote and encourage their active involvement in the democratic process.
