JAMMU, Feb 3: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has taken serious note of illegal promotions allegedly made by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in favour of some Physical Education Teachers (PETs) in Poonch district.
The SVC has summoned Director General Youth Services and Sports to explain the position and alleged backdoor appointments.
Official sources said a complaint was lodged in the Commission regarding elevation of some PETs as Masters in district Poonch by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, in utter violation of standing rules/norms and in connivance with officials of the concerned Department in quid-pro-quo even without fulfilling the required conditions meant for promotions thereof.
The SVC while taking cognizance of the complaint sought report from the Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, Department of Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports in the matter.
“The report submitted before the Commission prima-facie portrayed the callous approach exercised by the higher administrative authorities, by taking excuse of floods for non-availability of requisite records and tossing the matter from one office to another for the last couple of years without any fruitful and prolific progress actually made out in this sensitive issue,” sources said.
The SVC while taking serious note of the apparently mala-fide approach adopted by the officers/officials at the helm of affairs of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, has sought personal appearance of Director General Youth Services and Sports before the Commission on next date of hearing to elucidate the facts and those responsible for illegal promotions.
