After two years of hiccups, the State Vigilance Commission has finally been given its top functionaries. A Secretary to the Commission is to be appointed. The top brass of the SVC was administered oath of office by the Governor. All this has been the follow up action of the Act under which the SVC has been created. Fortunately two top officers of much repute and experience have been selected to run the prestigious organization.
Obviously, the task before the SVC is not so simple in view of the disturbed conditions in the State and the challenges met by the security staff and the state as a whole. The two top officials have been in the thick of the battle in the State and they are fully knowledgeable on the ground situation. We are confident that they will perform their role to the best of their capacity and that security scenario in the State will be energized under their supervision. It has also to be remembered that the lapses on the part of security paraphernalia have not to be condoned if there are any. Many people had complaints that need to be looked into and redressed. Since both of the top officials belong to the State, their understanding of the ground situation is expected to be flawless. Now it is the duty of the Government to provide the Commission the wherewithal enabling it to function with efficiency. People expect a healthy change in security scenario with the SVC becoming practically functional.
