Suvendu accuses Bengal Govt of siphoning Central funds

KOLKATA, Aug 6: West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday charged the State Government with siphoning and diverting funds allocated by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for each and every central Government scheme.

Taking to Twitter, Adhikari said, “Siphoning & diverting funds allocated by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for each & every Central Govt scheme has been the trademark of WB Govt.”

“I have written to Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, drawing his attention towards the massive financial scam unfolding in WB,” he added. “Even natural calamities such as Cyclone Amphan & Yaas and health disaster such as the Covid pandemic have been squeezed to extract illicit money through corrupt means by misusing relief distribution & pandemic purchase, ” the BJP leader stated.

“MGNREGA too has been turned into a money minting machinery,  Adhikari said adding, “A new avenue has been created to swindle funds; plantation of saplings. ”

“Be it mangrove saplings or fruit bearing plants, crores of rupees is being defrauded in this manner,”he saidd. “At the time of inspection the officials claim that the missing plants have been washed away by storms,” Adhikari added. (UNI)
