Suspended cop among two arrested with heroin, cash

JAMMU, Apr 15: Two persons including a suspended cop of Jammu and Kashmir police were arrested along with 13 grams heroin and Rs 1,51,000 cash.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a Santro car bearing registration number PB08BH-4662 coming from Narwal side.
During checking, police team recovered 13 grams heroin and Rs 1,51,000 from the possession of two persons traveling in the car and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Shubam Gupta, son of Yash Paul Gupta of Pandav Mandir District Udhampur and Gulcharan Singh, son of Romal Singh of Shiv Nagar District Udhampur.
It is pertinent to mention here that Gulcharan Singh is a suspended police constable presently posted in District Kishtwar and various cases under NDPS Act stands registered against him. Shubam Sharma was also arrested in different cases and once had escaped from the custody of Police Station Udhampur in the year 2018.
A fresh case under FIR Number 39/2020 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered against them at Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bagh-e-Bahu Inspector Sunil Kumar Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Bikram Kumar, SP South Vinay Sharma and SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil.
