NEW DELHI: In a show of solidarity to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who was assaulted by the Karni Sena activists on sets of his film Padmavati, Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput removed his surname on Twitter ‘for a day’.
Talking about this, Sushant, who was last seen in ‘M S Dhoni the untold story’, said, ”Yes, I did it for a day to show that the unfortunate action is not what everyone with that surname endorses. They do not represent the entire Rajputs. There are ways to express your ideas, but violence is never an answer, and that too just on mere speculation.”
The filmmaker was assaulted by the Karni Sena activists, an organisation of the Rajput community. Sushant, however, clarified that he will not change his name for good .
He said that it was only his way to register protest. “I am not changing my name. That was a way to express that I don’t endorse the view of a particular group which claims to be the representative of entire Rajputs and probably India,”he said. The attack on Bhansali evoked sharp protest from several members of the film fraternity who called for a united stand by the industry against such assaults on artistes. (AGENCIES)
