Survival of J-K Govt difficult: Azad

HYDERABAD, May 29:

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the survival of the PDP-BJP coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir is “very difficult”.
“Survival of any coalition Government which is not based on principles and there is no meeting point is very difficult,” Azad, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, told reporters here.
The former J&K Chief Minister said, “If the foundation is not based on principles, how they will survive is very difficult. It’s very difficult to justify that (coming together of PDP and BJP) and to run the Government.”
“One party is from the north, while another party is from the south. I don’t know where is the meeting point,” Azad said.
Asked if the Government is soft on pro-Pakistan elements, he said, “They are going two steps forward and two steps backward.”
He said the entire political class is in favour of the return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
“There is hardly any politician in Kashmir who would not like Kashmiri Pandits to return to Kashmir,” Azad said.
Slamming the Narendra Modi Government for not appointing Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), he said a huge number of RTI queries had been pending for response.
“39,000 RTI applications are pending and there is not even a single officer to respond to that. Posts of three Information Commissioners have been vacant since the last year, while several central institutions such as Indian Council of Medical Research are headless,” senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters here.
“Who knows there may be so many scams against the Government and misdeeds of the Government,” he said.
He said the achievements mentioned in the open letter by the Prime Minister on completion of one year in office are “white lies and full of self-contradictions”.
“To tell white lies, you must have courage and heart. I must congratulate the Prime Minister that he has both,” he said. (PTI)
