JAMMU, July 21: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today inspected the Water Filtration Plants in Doda and asked the field staff to regularly monitor the quality of water being supplied to the people of the areas after its treatment at these plants.
The Minister was accompanied by Chief Engineer PHE Jammu Sushil Aima, Chief Engineer I&FC Jammu Rajeev Gandotra, Superintending Engineers and other senior officers of the department.
Sham Lal Choudhary visited WFP Manchan and Deoli having capacity of 30000 GPH and 15000 GPH respectively. He inspected the water filtration plants and was briefed by the field staff about their working.
The Minister directed the concerned officials for regular cleaning of reservoirs and ensuring effective water treatment process especially during monsoon season. He also asked for conducting water tests on regular basis to ensure supply of safe drinking water to the people.
Addressing the officers and field staff on the occasion, the Minister reiterated the commitment of the Government towards providing safe drinking water to the people. He said that it our duty to put in sincere efforts in providing clean water supply to the people especially living in such remote areas for which regular maintenance of departmental infrastructure is must.
He said that reservoirs needs to be cleaned regularly as the raw water in hilly areas during monsoon carries polluted particles which needs effective filtration process.
The Minister asked for conducting regular visits in their respective PHE installations and concerned habitations for streamlining water supply to the people. He directed them to make full use of available resources so that drinking water is made available to the people.
