JAMMU, May 23: Government today announced schedule of summer vacations for all Government and recognized private schools falling in the summer zone of Jammu Division.
According to an order issued by the Director School Education Jammu, primary classes shall observe summer vacations from June 1 to July 22, 2026, while classes 6th to 12th will remain closed from June 8 to July 22, 2026.

Earlier, Education Minister Sakeena Itoo, announced summer vacations for schools in the summer zone of Jammu division starting June 1, due to the prevailing heatwave conditions across the region.
“Considering the prevailing weather conditions, summer vacations for schools in the Summer Zone of Jammu Division shall commence from June 1, 2026, for primary classes and on June 8, 2026, for students in Classes 6th to 12th,” the minister said in a social media post on her account on X.
The formal order on summer vacations further stated that the teaching staff shall report to their respective schools on July 21, 2026 for ensuring preparedness ahead of reopening of schools. The staff has been directed to undertake cleanliness drives, preparation of teaching-learning material, lesson planning, timetable preparation and arrangements for online teaching facilities including ICT labs.
The Directorate has also instructed all teachers to remain available for online guidance of students during the vacation period. To support academic learning, summer tutorials and remedial classes will be arranged in designated High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools for students, Further, scholastic assignments for Government school students during vacations will be assigned in accordance with the suggestive assignment pattern.
The Directorate has warned that any default by Heads of Institutions or teaching staff in implementing the directions would invite action under rules.
