JAMMU, July 11: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Shuknandan Kumar Choudhary today visited rain affected areas of Jammu city and took stock of the prevailing situation.
The Minister visited Jewel Chowk, back side park of exhibition ground, Narwal, Sunjwan, back side nallah of KC Hundai, Pamposh Colony and many other rain affected areas. He interacted with the people and listened to their grievances.
The Minister expressed serious concern over the situation arising out of the recent incessant rains in various localities of Jammu city. He asked the concerned authorities to take measures to prevent water logging and over flowing of drains. He said that the concerned authorities must take the plight of people seriously, in view of heavy losses suffered by them. He said that during rainy season people face problems regarding water supply and electricity, for which there is a need to take effective initiatives.
The Minister said that the Government is very much concerned about the prevailing situation and the safety of the people. He assured the people that Government will take every step to improve drainage system and streamline the water supply in the vulnerable areas. The Minister directed the concerned authorities to take necessary and immediate remedial measures to save people of rain affected areas from further inconvenience.
S.E Hydraulic R.K Gupta, S.E Urban hydraulic Sunil Gupta, XEn Flood Control Jammu Division Nazir Ahmed, BJP Leader Vikram Randhawa and Subash Jandial accompanied the minister during his visit.
