SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary dedicated two Water Supply Schemes (WSS) to the people of Peernard-Lalgam and Gulshanpora-Suspadi in Tral today.
These Water Supply Schemes have been completed at a cost of Rs 2.79 crore and will cater to the drinking water needs of over 8000 population of a dozen habitations in Tral constituency.
MP Fayaz Ahmad Mir, MLA Tral, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Chief Engineer PHE, G M Bhat, Chief Engineer Mechanical Division, SEs and other senior engineers besides political workers, prominent citizens and a large number of locals were present on the occasion.
Speaking after inaugurating WSS at Peernard-Lalgam, the Minister said the Government has set into motion a golden era of development in the State during the current dispensation. “Every possible resource is being mobilized and pooled to provide basic facilities to the people with focus on equitable opportunities of development and uniform justice to poor, backward and hilly areas”, he said and added that the Government is abreast with the problems of the people and no stone will be left unturned to redress their grievances.
“Government is committed to provide better facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the State and is working under a well-knit development programme with special focus to upgrade the basic services to the people”, he said and asked the people to cooperate with the Government so that it can carry out the developmental schemes ensuring their time-bound completion.
The Minister directed the engineers to monitor the performance of all water supply schemes in the area to ensure adequate output.
On developmental sector, the Minister said that the promises made by Coalition Government are being fulfilled one after one. “We are making new strides and have laid edifice for peaceful and economically sound Jammu and Kashmir”, he said, adding that though everything has not been achieved yet, the march on road to progress is firm and the Government aims at taking the State to new highs of prosperity and stability.
The concerned MLA Mushtaq Ahmad Shah urged the Minister to plug the gaps and provide potable drinking water in all uncovered habitations in the area.
