NEW DELHI, June 2: Sugar remained weak and prices fell further by 0.84 per cent to Rs 2,958 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, triggered by ample supplies from millers against subdued demand from bulk consumers.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in July fell further by Rs 25, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 2,958 per quintal with an open interest of 26,580 lots.
Likewise, the sweetener for delivery in June shed Rs 13, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 2,984 per quintal in 42,260 lots.
Analysts said besides lower demand in the spot market, adequate stocks following ample supplies from millers, mainly kept pressure on sugar prices at futures trade. (PTI)
