JAMMU, Nov 25: Minister for CA&PD Department and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today announced opening of Fair Price Shop (FPS) in forward area of Jeora Farm in R S Pura area of Jammu. He called for completion of requisite formalities within a week.
The Minister also announced that adequate quantity of sugar would be released by the end of this month as the requisite formalities for purchase of sugar are in the final stage. He said the sugar quota for the month of October and November would be released in one go to the consumers.
Interacting with the residents at Jeora Farm, Zulfkar said Government is aware about the difficulties being faced by the inhabitants of the border area and to address these holistically Government is making comprehensive measures to end their miseries.
While taking stock of basic infrastructure and amenities in the area, the Minister found that people are still living in thatch roofed houses which are prone to fire and related incidents during the cross-border shelling. He instructed the Director Tribal Affairs department to release an amount of Rs 25 lakh for upgradation and repairing of their Kulla houses.
“The replacement of thatch roofs made up of cattle straw with tin sheets should be done at the earliest,” the Minister said and directed the Director Tribal Affairs Department to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and submit the same for approval within 10 days.
Vice-Chairman State SC Corporation, Bushan Lal Dogra, MLA, R S Pura, Dr Gagan Baghat also accompanied the Minister.
Earlier, Zulfkar also inspected several CA&PD depots functioning in the area to assess the stock and supply position.
Responding to the demands of release of sugar quota, the Minister assured that due quota would be released during this month only.
