JAMMU, Apr 7: Sikh United Front (SUF) and several other Sikh bodies have exhorted the people to vote for coalition candidate, Raman Bhalla in the Lok Sabha elections from Jammu-Poonch seat.
While addressing a joint press conference here today, Sudershan Singh Wazir, chairman SUF and other Sikh leaders appealed to the people in general and Sikh community in particular to vote for Raman Bhalla, who is alliance candidate from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat. He said BJP has not only ruined the economy of the country by taking retrograde steps like demonetization and GST but also proved failure on many fronts like internal security.
Wazir alleged that BJP’s policies have encouraged communal tension and regionalism. It has caused damage to the secular fabric of the country. The minorities are feeling insecure in many areas.
He added that a national party like BJP has not given mandate to any Sikh in whole of India. Even the sole member in the current Government, SS Ahluwalia has also been denied a mandate. BJP surprisingly has only given mandate to four Muslim candidates, 3 in Kashmir and one in Lakshadweep where BJP had no other choice but to look for Muslim minority candidate as Muslim constitute more that 90% of the electorate in the constituencies. This mindset of BJP clearly shows its antipathy towards minorities in India who have contributed a lot during the freedom of the country.
Wazir called upon the progressive forces to defeat the nefarious communal agenda of BJP by voting in huge numbers for a candidate like Raman Bhalla whose past tenure in the legislature as Minister and MLA speaks volumes about the great work done by him and his accessibility for the common man day and night whereas, the BJP candidate was not seen anywhere in the State during past 50 years of his tenure in Parliament as MP.
Prominent among those who accompanied Wazir included Dayal Singh Wazir, Chairman Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Surinder Singh Kala, Mohinder Singh, Gajjan Singh, Surjeet Singh Kuku, Darbinder Singh, Harpreet Singh, Kuldeep Kaur, Paramjeet Singh, Capt Hazara Singh, Ravinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh Malik, Kapoor Singh Dutta, Kulwant Singh, Manmohan Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Kultar Singh and Surinder Singh Dutt.
