SUF demands Gurdwara elections

JAMMU, Jan 18: Sikh United Front (J&K) has urged upon the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to hold State Gurdwara elections as early as possible.
In a meeting of  various Sikh bodies held under the banner of Sikh United Front, led by Avtar Singh Khalsa, the members stressed upon the Government to hold Gurdwara elections as early as possible. They said that earlier two times, the notifications were issued by the Divisional Administration but the polls were postponed due to different reasons. Sikh Sangat of the State wants early conduct of Gurdwara elections for the smooth management of the Gurdwaras and proper utilization of funds generated through donations.
Members from BKNSS, AISSF, Sikh Naujawan Sabha, Gurmat Vichar Manch and Sikh Welfare Society also attended the meeting. They said that the affairs of  Sikh religious places are not being looked after properly in Jammu district and the Sangat is not happy with it.
