JAMMU, June 26: Sikh United Front (SUF) J&K, an amalgam of various Sikh organizations of J&K today demanded the Government to appoint at least one member in J&K Public Service Commission.
The issue came up for discussion during a meeting of SUF held under the chairmanship of Sudershan Singh Wazir, chairman of the Front. Dayal Singh Wazir (chairman, Shiromani Akali Dal J&K), HS Raina (former general secretary DGPC Jammu), Mohinder Singh (chief organizer, Bhai Kaniya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K), Darbinder Singh (president, Shiromani Akali Dal J&K and Kulwant Singh Khajuria (joint secretary, Shiromani Akali Dal J&K) were present in the meeting.
Wazir said that earlier all the commissions constituted had a Sikh member in them who did their job very well but this is first time that not even a single Sikh member has been appointed in the Commission. He questioned the Government if it couldn’t find a single Sikh qualified and suitable enough to be appointed as the member of the PSC.
He warned the Government of a strong agitation if a Sikh member is not included in PSC.
