Students take out rally for voter participation awareness

DC Reasi flagging off students rally on Monday.

REASI, Nov 11: To create awareness about voter participation under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation, a rally of students from various Higher Secondary Schools of Reasi was organized today.
The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who exhorted upon the students to act as change makers and spread the message of effective electoral participation in remote areas.
More than 400 students participated in the rally which was 8th such programme organized under comprehensive District SVEEP plan in last one week.
All the departments have been assigned duty under SVEEP for hundred percent coverage about information on electoral participation and cover the left out electors. Special emphasis is being laid on participation of women and marginalized sections.
Speaking on the occasion DDC said, “Greater participation is stronger democracy” so main aim is to motivate voters so as to increase voter turnout and one of the best way of this is to educate and aware students about importance of registration and voting in order to  motivate their parents to cast their vote. All the students took a pledge and oath to ensure participation of their parents, elders and family members in elections to Parliament and State Assembly.
CEO Reasi Ashok Kumar (nodal officer of SVEEP), Tehsildar Hq Dr Manmeet Kumar,   Incharge SVEEP Surjeet Singh, ZEPO Kaka Ram, Principal and staff of ASI were also present on the occasion.
The rally passed through bus stand and main market of Reasi. The students were holding banners and placards to encourage people to register for electoral list and importance of vote.
