RAJOURI, Sept 13: The students from Govt Higher Secondary School, Seri in Nowshera held strong protest demonstration against the mysterious death of a student of Class 12th of the same school four days back and failure of police to solve the case.
The students including large number of girls came out on the road in Seri Sial area on Nowshera-Beri-Pattan-Sunder-bani road at around 8.30 am today and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against Nowshera and Rajouri Police. They sat on dharna on the road and blocked it, burning tyres.
The students alleged that dead body of 12th class student Hemanshu, son of Dev Dutt, resident of Gagrote village was found lying in bushes about 500 mtrs away from school when he had gone to school from home. He did not reach home. They said his body was found on Sept 9 and circumstances show this as clear murder. The police shifted the body for postmortem to Nowshera hospital and since then no action has been seen on ground. They demanded that Special Investigation Team (SIT) should be framed to investigate the case.
Later, SHO Nowshera and Tehsildar arrived the spot and assured the protesting students to solve the case shortly. They assured that after postmortem report arrives, the real investigation into the case would start. The students then lifted dharna after two and half hours.
Meanwhile, former MLC and chief spokesperson of PCC, Ravinder Sharma has demanded an impartial investigation into the mysterious death of a school boy of Gagrote area of Nowshera, in district Rajouri.
In a statement, Sharma said that the people of the area have been agitating for high level investigation into the mysterious death of student. He asked the Govt to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a senior officer of integrity to bring out truth in the incident. He said the police should immediately respond to the situation and order a time bound investigation and bring out the entire truth in the matter.
