REASI, Oct 10: The students of Government High School Dharmatha in Arnas again boycotted their classes and staged a strong protest demonstration against non-availability of adequate teaching staff in the school, here today.
The protesting students took out a march and staged a sit-in on main road. They were raising slogans and demanding adequate teaching staff in the school. The protesting students were also joined by some parents.
After boycotting their classes, the protesting students blocked main Arnas- Judda road and shouted slogans against Education Department. They appealed the Education Department to provide required staff in the school so that studies are not affected.
Earlier also, these students had held similar protest demonstration on October 2 for the same reason.
According to ex Sarpanch Raman Kumar, out of 17 sanctioned posts of teacher for the school, only 6 teachers, including the Headmaster were filled and after the previous protest, the authorities had ordered closure of 3 primary schools and then transferred their teachers to Dharmatha School. “But how a primary school teacher can teach the high school students?” he asked and explained that today’s protest was mainly on this issue.
Besides deployment of adequate teaching staff at the High School, we are also demanding re-opening of the closed primary schools, he added.
The primary schools, which were closed, included PS Simbalnadi, PS Kadmarh and PS Thalla.
Later CEO Reasi visited the protesting students and assured reopening of primary schools besides provide adequate teachers at Dharmatha school.
