Students protest for repair of school building

UDHAMPUR, July 11: Demanding repair of the school building, students of Government Middle School Pangyal, Zone Kulwanta, and local villagers today protested against the School Education Department.
The protesting students and villagers raised slogans against the Education Department authorities and Udhampur district administration.
They said that this middle school has total five rooms but only two are functional as the remaining three were not since damage in 2014 floods. While one room is being used for office purpose and other as store, the students are forced to have classes in open.
Despite repeated requests and written pleas to the concerned authorities for repair of the damaged class rooms or construction of new ones, there has been no action with the result that students are facing problem to continue their studies, they explained.
Further, the villagers added, there is no provision of Mid-Day Meal as well as drinking water facility in the school.
While the post of ZEO Kulwanta is lying vacant, the Chief Education Officer Udhampur could not be contacted despite repeated attempts for the official version on the issue.
