POONCH, Jan 30: The students from several local schools held massive protest demonstration and took out a large rally against the Power Development Department here today.
The students from local Govt Higher Secondary School, Bal Vikas Vidyalaya, SD Sabha School and Sant Mela Singh Public School assembled near Fort building complex and then started protest demonstration. They sat on dharna at the main Shahidi Chowk here and started raising slogans against Chief Minister and the Power Minister besides Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer PDD.
These students boycotted their classes and then took to streets to lodge their protest protest. They alleged that due to worst ever power crisis, the students community is the worst sufferer. They said after breakdown during heavy snow fall, hardly 3-4 hours power supply is being given out of 24 hours. The voltage is very low and additional candles are needed to be lit even when bulbs are on in a room. They alleged that Government has failed to provide basic amenities and due this problems water supply is also badly hit.
These agitating students supported by local youth also disrupted movement of vehicles for about two hours and after taking out march through various markets, they concluded the programme at Fort building complex. This programme was held under the banner of Poonch Youth Club, led by Nishu Gupta and Sarbjeet Singh.
