SAMBA, July 14: Students of Government Degree College, Samba, stage a protest demonstration here today against alleged denial of admissions by the college management.
A large number of college students and fresh admission seekers blocked the busy Jammu-Pathankot National Highway and disrupted traffic for nearly half an hour. They raised slogans against denial of admission by the college authorities.
The protesting students said that the college authorities had given admission to only 350 students and refused to give admissions to remaining students. “The impathetic attitude of the college administration is against the students’ community and we will not tolerate it,” they added.
“We are not in a position to take admission in other private colleges. All our hopes have been dashed and our future is in stake now. We demand admissions for all regular and re-appear students as it were closed due to unknown reasons, said Shalu Devi, a student.
Later senior police official reached the spot and assured to look into the matter for a positive decision following which the students dispersed off.
