Students organize ‘Peace March’ to pay homage to Uri martyrs

BHADERWAH, Sept 27: A peace march was organized by school, college and university students here to pay homage to soldiers of Indian Army who were killed by terrorists in Uri.
The march in which 1200 students of Bhaderwah campus, GDC Bhadarwah, Kendriya Vidhalaya, Boys and Girls Higher secondary schools participated was organized jointly by students of different educational institutions in collaboration with 4 RR.
The peace march started from Boys Higher Secondary school Bhaderwah and on the way was joined by students of Kendriya Vidhalaya, Bhaderwah Campus, GDC Bhadarwah and Girls Higher Secondary school. After passing through different markets including Link road, Laxmi Narayan Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Pasri Bus Stand and Ganpat Market, all the students gathered at historic Seri Bazaar where they observed two minutes silence to pay homage to the Uri martyrs. The students while holding banners reading “Peace March” made an appeal for world peace.
Commanding Officer 4RR sensitized students on the issue. He said “We believe in world peace and brotherhood. We condemn such heinous acts which are against the spirit of humanity. May the souls of the martyrs rest in peace”.
Meanwhile, some volunteers from civil society too joined in the two minutes silence to pay tributes to the martyrs.
Jugal Kishore Kotwal, a renowned social worker of Bhaderwah, said that strong action needed to be taken against consistent acts of terror from Pakistan.
