KATHUA, Jan 22: The students of Government Degree College (boys) and GDC Women jointly staged a protest against the Jammu University and blocked the college road for 2 hours.
The students protest against the notification issued by Jammu University, wherein a criteria has been setup for promotion of students from semester 5th to semester 6th under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and only those students who passed 1st and 3rd semester completely can promoted to semester 6th.
The students demand roll back of the CBCS notification. They said that this rule is unknown to students firstly and it is totally against them.
“Due to this notification 60 to 70 percent of semester 5th students are suffering and denied admission. In the mid session, the JU is spoiling the future of students”, the protesting students said.
Earlier, an application was submitted to college principal regarding this issue but on 21 January again, Jammu University maintain its status quo, they informed.
After getting information, ACR Kathua Jitender Mishra along with SSP Kathua Shridhar Patil reached the spot and assured the students to take up their demand with concerned authorities for redressal.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the college road.
