KISHTWAR, July 23: Member Legislative Council (MLC) Firdous Tak today said that strong communal bonds and harmony was imperative for a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
“Jammu and Kashmir is also called as mini-India due to its pluralistic ethos and being abode of different faiths and cultures. We have since centuries lived together in amity and brotherhood without any distinction and differences and upholding these values was one of the dire need of present times”, he said.
Tak was speaking at Paddar Cultural Festival organized by Himalayan Bhudhist Cultural Society. He called on HH Gyalwang Drukpa, head of the 800 year old Drukpa lineage, who along with HE Stanka Rinpochay and HE Drupka Rinpochay are on a week-long visit to Paddar.
He said that the cultural, ethnic and linguistic composition of Jammu and Kashmir varies across the State by region but this distinction has always been the strength of the State and has stood in all the testing times.
“There have been many attempts to create wedge among the regions and religions but the people of State have always thwarted such designs”, he said while urging the people to follow the path of harmony and amity with each other.
