String operation over alleged bribe scam figures in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI : Reported string operation, showing some Trinamool Congress leaders from West Bengal taking money, figured in the Lok Sabha today with Congress members demanding the suspension of Question Hour for immediate discussion over the issue. As the House met for the day, Congress members, including party leader in the House Mallikarjun Kharge, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Jyotiraditya Scindia, demanded suspension of the Question Hour for taking up the issue for which they had submitted a notice of adjournment.
However, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan did not entertain their demand saying she would allow them to speak at later stage and right now, the Question Hour business would be taken up.
This did not satisfy the Congress members who insisted up on their demand, Mr Chowdhury tried to convince the Chair saying since this is related to the decorum of the House, it needed urgent attention. AITC member Saugata Roy and his party colleagues opposed the demand.
This continued for some time but the unrelenting Speaker did not entertain interruptions and continued with Question Hour proceedings. (AGENCIES)
