Stop anti-national propaganda: Randhir

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, May 6: Expressing shock that Saudi clerics and Pakistani news anchors were being beamed direct to Kashmir and were stoking cries for Azadi in the Valley, former Minister and State NCP president, Thakur Randhir Singh, today said that such anti-national propaganda must be stopped immediately.
Singh said it is shocking that over 50 Saudi and Pakistani channels including Zakir Naik’s banned Peace TV and other channels indulging in anti-India propaganda were running without necessary clearances via private cable operators in Kashmir.
He said all this was happening under the nose of the successive State Governments right from 1975 when Sheikh Mohd Abdullah took over the reign on platter by Indira Gandhi and it is more shocking this was also happening now under the nose of PDP- BJP Government which even subscribes to the cable services in some of its offices although satellite TV service providers like Tata Sky, Airtel, Dish TV are available in Kashmir.
The NCP State president said that more people subscribe to private cable operators in Valley because these broadcast Pakistani and Saudi Channels. He said it is known fact that more than 50,000 private cable connections are in Srinagar alone.
Singh expressed hope that the new Chief Secretary, BB Vyas who is honest, experienced and capable administrator, will weed out undesirable and corrupt elements from Jammu and Kashmir administration which is the second most corrupt State in the country.
