DODA, Sept 27: Doda police today claimed to have solved a burglary case by arresting a thief and recovering stolen jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh on his disclosure.
“The theft took place at the rented accommodation of Rajinder Kumar son of Bodh Raj, a resident of Tantna (tehsil Gundna), in Mohalla Nagri near Masjid Sharief Doda when Kumar was out for his work,” a police officer said.
The officer said after the victim lodged a written complaint at police Station Doda, a case FIR number 172/2021 under section 380/454 of IPC was registered and investigation started. He said during the course of investigation, ASI Ashwani Kumar, Incharge police post DH Doda did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV footages of the area finally arrested the accused namely Saqlain Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmed Wani of Bagorian (tehsil and district Doda).
“On the disclosure of the accused, stolen items including Mangalsutra (gold), Bugni (gold), Maang Tikka (gold), Tops (gold), pair of Karn Phul (gold), Necklace (gold), Jhumka (gold), two pairs of Nath (gold), totaling worth Rs 5 lakh were recovered,” the officer added.
