JAMMU, Dec 16: Forty one water supply schemes are under execution in Inderwal constituency of Kishtwar district even as 21 schemes have already been completed. The estimated cost for these schemes comes out to be Rs. 63.64 crore.
This was disclosed in a meeting convened to review the pace of completion of water supply schemes in Chenab Valley region. Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din presided over.
Former Minister and MLA, Inderwal, G. M. Saroori and MLC, Naresh were also present in the meeting.
The meeting was told that additionally 17 schemes are under execution in the area under NABARD and LIC costing around Rs. four crore.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister asked concerned engineers to explore possibility of providing drinking water to areas like Drubeel, Indlukhara, Tanta etc. He also directed exploration of filtration plant facility at Thathri and Chatroo area. He also directed processing of the DPRs of flood protection works for TAC clearance.
Mr. Taj impressed upon the officers and engineers to pace up works in far flung and difficult areas so that people there are covered under these schemes. He asked the engineers to avoid cost overrun of schemes by sticking to project timelines.
The Minister also directed covering areas like Halaran, Gogada, Gobar, Panshera, Jora Kalan, Sicher under drinking water supply, adding these works should be completed at the earliest.
Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu, Ashwani Sharma, other senior engineers and officers were present in these meetings.
