Steps underway to augment power supply in border areas: Sham

JAMMU, July 23: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today said that requisite steps are underway to provide transformers and other infrastructure to augment power supply in  every village in Suchetgarh so that people don’t face any difficulty during the summer season.
The Minister said this while addressing the gathering during a public grievance redressal camp at Suchetgarh.
The villagers hailing from Rangpur Malana, Korotana Khurd, Dablehar, Kotli Rahi-yaan, Sai Camp, Flora, Satriyan and other adjoining villages apprised the Minister that they are facing difficult situations due to power cuts and fluctuation in electricity supply. They demanded that existing transformers and electricity poles should be replaced with the new ones for augmenting power supply in their villages.
The villagers also raised their demands related to water supply, road connectivity, construction of lanes and drains, sanitation, healthcare, education and other related issues.
The Minister said the Government has taken various path-breaking steps for improving power supply in the border villages and assured them that all their demands would be addressed in a time bound manner.
He further said that the Government is making concerted efforts to improve the living standards of the people of border villages and special focus would be laid on uplift of poor, women, youth, farmers and downtrodden sections of the society.
