Stenographers Asso appeals Govt to consider demands or face agitation

JAMMU, May 26: All J&K Head of Departments Stenographers Association has appealed to the Government to consider the demands of the HoD cadre stenographers or face agitation.
Addressing a press conference, Mohammad Latif Qureshi, Chairman of the Association raised various issues relating to the career progression through cadre review, holding to timely DPCs in all the departments outside the Secretariat, creation of posts of private secretaries with Deputy Commissioner, Directorates and other equivalent heads, creating of posts of senior scale stenographers, junior scale stenographers in all the newly created administrative units and departments.
He appealed to the Government to consider their demands for promotion, induction into KAS and postings of HoD cadre at par with stenographers of Secretariat cadre.
Qureshi said that the HoD cadre stenographers are facing enduring stagnation and this has been continuing since decades, adding that HoD cadre is being deprived of their fundamental rights viz timely promotion and induction.
He demanded brining of stenographers of HoD cadre at par with Civil Secretariat cadre, polling of the posts of junior scale stenographers at one place on the analogy of Secretariat cadre, creation of the post of Private Secretary with each Deputy Commissioner and all other equivalent heads in the State, creation of post of senior scale stenographers with each Additional Deputy Commissioner and other equivalent officers in the State, creation of post of junior scale stenographers with SDM and all other equivalent officers of the State, creation of post of steno typist with each Tehsildar and other equivalent officers in the State, holding of DPCs at least twice in a year, vacation of posts of HoD cadre occupied by Secretariat cadre private secretaries and senior scale stenographers and pay anomaly issue of junior scale stenographers on the lines of the Head Assistants.
Among others present were Sanjay Kumar, Convener, Tilak Raj, Shib Kumar and Vinod Kumar, members, Ajay Sharma, member-cum-secretary and Bharat Bhushan, press secretary.
