Steiner meets Farooq Abdullah

SRINAGAR:
German Ambassador to India Michael Steiner today called on former Union Minister and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah and discussed range of issues.
“Steiner with his wife Eliese Steiner called on Abdullah at his residence here and discussed various initiatives that are aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries,” a spokesman of the NC said.
He said the German Ambassador highlighted the cooperation between the people of the two countries and underlined need for continued multi-faceted ties between the two nations and countrymen.
“The Ambassador also spoke about the enormous Tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir and said this was one of the most beautiful places he had ever visited,” the spokesman said.
He said Abdullah welcomed the German Ambassador’s reiteration of his affection for the people of the State and spoke about the importance of students of India and Germany studying each other’s languages, cultures and history.
Abdullah highlighted the areas where the two nations could benefit from each other and said the State could benefit in a lot of areas of expertise from Germany through knowledge and technology transfers in the areas of tourism, urban development and solid waste management. (AGENCIES)
