State Tax Deptt notices to various BUs, over Rs 60 lakh realized as penalty

JAMMU, Jan 8: The State Tax Department, Jammu has issued notices worth Rs 3.33 crore to various business units (BUs) including Punjabi Haveli, Jagdhamba Tyres, Smokin Joes, Vardhan Security etc. and realized a sum of Rs 60.50 lakh from the defaulters.
The Department issued notice under Section 74 of the JKSGST Act to Addison Resort (Punjabi Haveli) National Highway, Suketar, for depositing tax and penalty of Rs 27,04,853. The proceeding against the BU has also been initiated. The notice under Section 74 has also been issued against M/s Jagdamba Tyre House for deposition of tax and penalty amounting of Rs 2 crores and 14 lacs.
Meanwhile, the State Taxes Department, Jammu also inspected Neeru Hardware at Bhaderwah and detected huge tax evasion worth Rs 39 lacs. The notice under Section 76 has been issued to the BU for deposing the tax amount and penalty worth Rs 39 lakh thereof.
The Department has also started confiscation proceedings of vehicle No JK02AP 8660 along with the textile/made-up items which were seized/detained during a routine check at Jammu. The owner has been directed to deposit an amount of Rs 12,24,000 in lieu of confiscation.
The notices under Section 76 have also been to IBK Foods and Hospitalities Private Limited (Smokin Joes), Vardaan Security and Facilitation Private Limited. The Department also initiated proceedings under relevant provision of law against Hari Enterprises, Channi Himmat, Jammu for deposition of tax and penalty.
The State Taxes Department, Jammu also realized a tax and penalty amount of Rs 2, 22, 168 from P V Chandra Trading Agency and Rs 4,41,000 from the casual blanket sellers under provisions of GST law. Besides, an amount of Rs 6,12, 044 was recovered from the owner of textile, which was being transported in a vehicle bearing Registration No JK05C-5027, for undervaluing the textile for evasion of tax.
At Kathua, the State Taxes Department on specific input inspected 02 vehicles bearing Registration Numbers JK05B-0477 and JK01J-2032 and recovered penalty amounted to Rs 10 lakh approximately from the erring dealer on spot for indulging in gross under declaration of the value of the commodities being transported.
An amount of Rs 5,88,000 from the transporter of the goods for under and wrong declaration of goods were also recovered at Jammu. Meanwhile, the State Taxes Officers of Jammu Circles of the Department seized jackets worth Rs 6,75,250 at Teli Basti Bari-Brahmana and proceedings under relevant provision of the GST law are being initiated against the seller.
A sum of Rs 8 lakh was also recovered as penalty from The Kashmir Tyres, Narwal (Jammu) which was found conducting business activities without having proper registration. Rs 20 lakh as penalty was also realized from M/s Gogi Motors, Narwal, Jammu and Rs 3.50 lakh from M/s KN Enterprises for undeclared items.
The action was taken on the directions of Commissioner, State Taxes, PK Bhat with a view to ensure tax compliance & non evasion of goods and services tax revenue.
The team of State Tax Officers who conducted the inspections includes Mohit Raina, Mohd Raiyaz, Neeraj Sharma, Arvind Sawhney, Abdul Rehman, Anissa Nabi, Ajit Kumar, Kuldip Jandial, Javed Iqbal, Saba Noor, Ramneek Singh and Inspectors of the Department.
