State Pensioners Association stages protest for demands

JAMMU, Feb 9: Jammu and Kashmir State Pensioners Association staged a protest dharna at Vijaypur, pressing for their demands, today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mukand Lal Sharma, convenor of the association said that pensioners and employees of the State have been struggling for the last four years in connection with their problems in relating to implementation of sixth Pay Commission.
Madan Lal Abrol, general secretary of the association flayed the Government for not accepting their genuine demands. He said State Government has enhanced the salary of the Legislators three times and perks amounting to more than ninety thousand rupees per months, but it has no time even to think about the pensioners.
It may be recalled that Pensioners are demanding additional quantum of the pension in favour of the State Government, after attaining the age of 80, 85, 90, 100 years and above @ 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, and 100% on the analogy of Central Government older Pensioners.
Other demands like medical allowance be enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 to the State pensioners, release of 6% DA arrears from January 2009 to June 2009, 10% DA from July 2013 onwards to employees and pensioners.
Other who spoke on the occasion were K D Singh, Adbul Mazid Bicho, Raj Kumar Banthia, Prof Ayub Khan, S A Shah, R C Vaid, Sat pal Sharma, Surjeet Singh, Hardev Singh, Sardari lal, Mehar chand, Bhadur Singh, Shiv Raj Singh and Rattan Lal.
