JAMMU, Mar 29: Three-days State level workshop on “U-DISE Data Analysis and Dissemination” commenced today at State Project Office of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
The workshop organized by SSA in collaboration with UNICEF was inaugurated by State Project Director (SPD), SSA, Saugat Biswas in presence of Smita Sethi, Director School Education, Jammu and Ganesh Nigam and Santosh Gaikwad, Resource Persons, UNICEF.
The objective of the workshop is to build capacity of district level officials (Educational Management Information System Co-ordinators, Assistant Programmers/District U-DISE Incharge/DEOs) of all 22 districts of State. It is also aimed at improving understanding of indicators for planning and monitoring of educational progress and enhance skills in data analysis and interpretation of U-DISE data.
At the inaugural session, Smita Sethi, Director School Education Jammu urged the participants to identify strengths and weaknesses of data and checking of U-DISE data with the aim of removing inconsistencies from the data being collected at the district level.
SPD, SSA Saugat Biswas, who was the chief guest asked the districts level officials to ensure that the data collected should be correct, ensure reliability of data and likewise make proper use of this data for planning to ensure benefits to all children covered under school education system.
Biswas urged the resource persons from UNICEF to train the participants in usage and analysis of the data, ensuring its utilization in the most rational fashion for devising the State Plan every year. He informed that the Ministry of HRD, Government of India has given an opportunity by adhering to a scientific mechanism of planning by the usage of UDISE data. “We must take advantage of the mechanism and ensure that the resources flow down to the needy children in the needy schools. This workshop must be able to equip our officials in enhancing their skills for ensuring efficient analysis and gap identification in the education system”, he added.
UNICEF Resource Persons, Ganesh Nigam and Santosh Gaikwad will orient the district officials during this three-day workshop.
State officials of SSA and RMSA Directorates were also present during the workshop.
