Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Dec 31: Prof. Virender Gupta, the president of Jammu State Morcha (JSM) strongly condemned the apathetic, discriminatory and biased attitude of the State Government towards the victims of militant attacks, natural calamities and those of communal violence.
In a statement issued here today he said ample of examples can be cited to illustrate the least concern of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to the miseries and sufferings of the people of Jammu province. The earth quakes in Doda and Kishtwar districts, destruction of crops in Jammu region due to bad weather conditions and heavy rains and recently the communal riots in Kishtwar speak of his indifferent attitude towards the problems of the people of Jammu province.
The case of Somi Kumar, a resident of Village Kaleri of Kot Balwal who had become handicapped in the year 2001 in a grenade blast which was highlighted by the media again speaks of the extreme biased and inhuman attitude of the State Government.
He said the family of Somi Kumar consisting of old parents, wife and a minor boy is in a great pathetic condition. It is difficult for the family to manage both ends meet and on the verge of starvation. The family does not own a home and are dependent on the neighbours, he added.
