SAMBA, Apr 9: Standing wheat crop on over 50 kanals of land was reduced to ashes here today.
As per police sources, fire broke out in fields in Badheri area here probably due to hot weather conditions.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and informed the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Fuire fighters along with tenders reached the spot and started operation to douse the flames.
After hectic efforts, the fire was brought under control, but till then the standing wheat crop on over 50 kanals of land was turned into ashes.
The standing wheat crop on the 50 kanals land was owned by Dhyan Chand, Mohammad Shafi, Ashok Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Milkhi Ram.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
Police have taken cognizance in this regard.
