Standing in queue at Vaishno Devi, lady delivers baby

JAMMU, June 1: In a unique incident, a woman standing in a long queue to pay obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine, delivered a male baby outside the Bhawan situated in Trikuta Hills of mountainous Reasi district.
‘A pregnant woman namely Raj Bala, 35, wife of Survesh Kumar, resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh was standing in a queue outside Gate Number 3 this afternoon at around 1300 hrs to pay obeisance at the cave shrine,’ police sources here said.
They said the woman suddenly suffered labour pain. ‘A team of doctors from the nearby dispensary at Bhawan was rushed to spot but by that time, the woman with the help of other women devotees standing in that queue, had delivered a male baby on the spot,’ said police sources.
She was later shifted to the health centre, they said adding, ‘after providing the treatment to the woman and the newly born baby, both mother and the child were discharged.’
Police said this is the first kind of incident at Bhawan of this world famous shrine.
‘It was a healthy male baby and the condition of both, is stable,’ a doctor said. Meanwhile the woman in her statement to the media said that she had two daughters and wanted to have a boy.
‘I had wished for the male boy and prayed to offer obeisance at the cave shrine and finally, Mata Vaishno Devi listened to my prayers,’ she added.
