JAMMU, Dec 4: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at the District Police Lines.
The meeting was attended by Zonal SSPs, SP Operations Jammu, all SDPOs, DySP DAR, Senior PO DPO Jammu, SHOs and Incharge Police Posts of the district.
During the deliberations, the SSP conducted a detailed assessment of the crime scenario and overall security preparedness across Jammu district. He reviewed the status of quality investigation, timely disposal of cases, verification processes, inquest proceedings, handling of property-related disputes, NDPS cases, and the tracking of history-sheeters, absconders and missing persons.
Officers were instructed to ensure time-bound investigation, particularly under the new criminal laws, and meet the 60- and 90-day disposal timelines mandated for case finalization.
The meeting also evaluated progress on CCTNS, e-Sakshya, SID creation, e-summons and utilization of MedLEaPR, with the SSP calling for improved capacity building in all key policing domains. Stressing mandatory use of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) services as per BNSS provisions, he directed officers to prioritize scientific evidence collection and ensure strict compliance across units.
Reiterating a strict Zero Tolerance policy against drugs and organized crime, the SSP directed all units to identify drug peddlers, organised networks and gangsters, and take uncompromising action against those involved. He instructed officers to keep strict surveillance on released organised criminals to prevent resurgence of criminal activity.
The SSP emphasized complete implementation of citizen-centric provisions under new criminal laws, including Zero FIRs and e-FIRs, and urged officers to maintain both quantitative and qualitative disposal of under-investigation cases. He stressed zero tolerance to corruption, crime burking and indiscipline.
Calling for strict compliance to VDG and Border SOPs, he directed officers to ensure coordination with other security forces, strengthen area domination and conduct tenant verification without causing inconvenience.
Concluding the meeting, the SSP instructed officers to ensure visible presence at key roads and junctions during peak hours to facilitate smooth traffic movement and reduce public inconvenience.
