Srinagar, Dec 24: Two procedures were carried out in the Department of Cardiology of Government Super Speciality Hospital (SSH), Shireen Bagh for the first time in the entire Union Territory of J&K.
The procedures include retrograde approach Angioplasty as well as the Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) making them first-ever events taking place in the UT.
In this regard, a workshop on complex Coronary Angioplasty was conducted today in the department of Cardiology of the Hospital under the chairpersonship of Prof Dr Samia Rashid, Dean, Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Pratap Kumar, Cofounder and course Director of IJCTO proctored the session.
A hand-out issued here in this regard said that the patients who needed Chronic Total Occlusion Angioplastics Antegrade, as well as retrograde approach, were examined and the retrograde approach Angioplasty was performed for the first time in the Union Territory of J&K and was a complete success.
“The patients with severely calcified lesions were also treated and for the first time Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) was performed in the UT of J&K. All the patients are doing well and are getting discharged on regular basis,” the hand-out said.
Dr Samia Rashid has appreciated the faculty of Cardiology and the role of supportive staff for successfully conducting the event first of its kind.
